As Long as the Rivers are Flowing_Song

[Introduction, chorus]

As long as the rivers are flowing
As long as the grasses are green
Those who listen will find their way home
Like the Salmon who swim up the stream.
Like the fish who live in the sea.

Put on a cloak that is golden
Rise up at the dawn of the day
Listen to the music within your heart
It will help you to find your way.
It will lead you from day to day.

Throw off the burdens that weigh you
Clear open the path of your mind
Seek your inner wisdom
Til' balance and beauty you find
Seek the light of the truth deep inside.

For,
[chorus]

When darkness does make its presence
Known right before your eyes
Draw forth your inner vision
Til in the light of the Truth you abide
So darkness within you cannot hide.

Follow this inner vision
From Deep within your soul
It's called your intuition
And will show you where to go
It's that feeling you just seem to know.

For,
[chorus]

Rise up in a cloak that is golden
Dawn’s light that is soft and serene
Nature can touch and heal your heart
So within and without you can dream
Within and without you can dream.

Dream of today and tomorrow
Dream of what you'd like to be
Let go of all your sorrow
Dry up all of your tears

For as long as the rivers are flowing
As long as the grasses are green
Those who listen will find their way home
Like the salmon who swim up the stream
Like the fish who swim in the sea
Dream a Little Dream.

[ Inspired by Dhyani Ywahoo, and her book, Voices of our Ancestors; Spiritual Leader of the Lummi Nation, Joe Washington, who said, "Dhyani, you tell the people that as long as the rivers shall flow and as long as the grass is green, the salmon are going to come upstream. Everybody wants to go home." ]
